Today the newspaper Avui has published another new that will make Catalans upset…

Spain owes us 62 million Euro for all the people who come here to get medical treatment” Boi Ruiz, Minister of Health of Generalitat de Catalunya, declared  that in regards to medication, the Spanish administration owes 15 million Euro to Catalonia, and 47 million more for hospitalization purposes.

These declarations were done during an interview at the program Els Matins de TV3, few hours later than 10.000 people (according to Barcelona police, of course, it could have been more…) would gather at Sant Jaume square in Barcelona to complain about the budget cuts that Generalitat is doing in public health institutions, education and others…

Mr. Ruiz wanted to point out that if the 1.400 millions that the Spanish administration owes to Catalonia would have been received, the Catalan government would not need to do budget cuts anywhere and Sant Jaume square would have seen no demonstration about this.

However, Boi Ruiz has admitted that maybe they have not properly explained the measures they are to take for budget reduction but still believes these  are correct in order to keep the Catalan Health System working. He also complaint former governments left the Health system in a very uncertain economic situation, though he also confirms it was absolutely necessary to reorganize the system in order to spend the budget better and increase service levels.
